The End of the Olympics 2012

Good morning beautiful shining stars!

Last night was the end of the Great British Olympics 2012 and what a sadness it is!  I've enjoyed it tremendously watching all the wonderful nail-biting races, diving, cycling and everything else the Olympics has had to offer.

The opening ceremony was tremendous and steeped in history, and last night the closing ceremony was also a tribute to everything the UK offered the world (not only musically, culturally and historically) but also of what is to come!  Absolutely fantastic!

My favourite performances had to be the sketch with Delboy and Rodney (from the legendary TV show 'Only Fools and Horses') and all the musical performances including the reunion of the Spice Girls!

It made me proud of the British Heritage even if I'm originally from South Africa!

My own personal highlights in the games had to be Mo Farrah winning two gold medals in the 10,000m and 5000m running and Ussain Bolt winning two gold medals for Jamaica in the 100 and 200m sprint, showing that he truly is a LEGEND!

Not only that, but I'm tremendously proud of all those British athletes that gave their all to make this one of the most memorable Olympics in many centuries.  This contest had heart and emotions ran very high.  It really had the edge on the Beijing Olympics, showing that you don't need to spend billions to make the games truly spectacular and legandary.

I might be a slight bit biased, but you've got to admit, it really brought the UK together to really enjoy these games as a unit.  People would gather in open spaces like Hyde Park, even if they had no tickets for the games, and watch together.  Elation, joy and sheer happiness oozing from their very pores.  Hugging each other, whether they knew each other or not.  I mean, can you really get anything more special?

So it truly is a sad moment, but also a happy moment to pass the torch on to Rio for the Rio Olympics 2016.  The British Olympics had a motto:  "Inspire the next generation".  It is my sincerest hope that new, young Olympians will be created for the next Olympic Games.  Because it truly has been such a special time not only for Great Britain, but also for the world.

For a moment we were all united in our enjoyment of watching our athletes compete.  Sometimes supporting other countries athletes if our own countries did not qualify for some events.  It is a lesson to support one another and to bring those famous words from the Bible back to life:  "Love thy neighbour".

I will miss this special time and will never ever forget it either.
