Miss Piggy: Style Icon

When it comes to glamour there are few who nail it with quite as much flair as Miss Piggy. She's a strong woman (pig/puppet?) and no matter what the circumstances she is always groomed to perfection, which is surely why beauty brands like MAC and OPI have signed her up.


Miss Piggy is becoming something of a fashion and beauty icon, 37 years since her Hollywood debut. All eyes are on her as next year she will be reprising her role as Kermit's love interest in the new Muppets movie (out in UK cinemas February 2012). For the role she had designers including Christian Louboutin and Zac Posen clamouring to create costumes for her to wear. And it's no surprise really, as Miss Piggy will be playing the role of French Vogue editor in the film; of the role she has said, 'Moi plays a high-powered, confident, charismatic, gorgeous, scene-stealing star that saves the day and wins her frog's heart' all while dressed head-to-toe in designer garb (a woman after our own hearts).


MAC cosmetics have also spotted her current rising star and have signed her up to be the face of a new limited edition range launching in February to coincide with the film's UK release. MAC cosmetics have described her in the advert - in which she is sporting a new, edgier look - as 'Icon. Actress. Supermodel. Chanteuse. Muse. Frog-o-phile. Cinema and television superstar nonpareil'. Out now she also has, along with the other stars of The Muppets franchise, a nail polish made in collaboration with OPI, a bold glittering red called 'Gettin' Miss Piggy With It', £10.50 (lenawhite.co.uk).


Not content with having designers fighting to dress her and make-up brands all wanting a piece of the glamorous action, she is proving that she's no opinion-less puppet and is slated to be taking on the role of guest judge on Project Runway All Stars in the US further cementing her label of feisty fashion and beauty icon.
