Benefit Besties

Wednesday, 15 August 2012

Hello fellow beauty lovers and welcome to my wednesday blog post!

First up, my latest obsession, Benefit Besties, the fantastic new mini make up set from Benefit that I've been using for the last week. Boasting miniature versions of Benefit's bestselling 'That Gal' brightening face primer (loaded with light-reflecting pigments to boost radiance) and Some Kind-a Gorgeous (a cream-to-powder sheer coverage 'foundation faker'), its aim, say Benefit, is to achieve "record-breaking flawlessness."

So how did Benefit Besties fare?
Well, I've fallen in love with it. I'm not blessed with naturally clear skin so I struggle to find make up that doesn't dry into cakey layers around blemishes but the foundation faker smoothed over my skin so easily, leaving it soft and silky with no flaky spots! I wouldn't say the finish was flawless but it was definitely a significant improvement compared to my usual foundation.

Top tip:
Smooth the primer over your face before building up the foundation coverage in light layers. I've been applying it using my fingertips but you can use a sponge or brush if you prefer. A major plus is that the sheer texture of the foundation faker makes it harder for you to apply too much in one go which helps avoid a patchy, unblended finish - great if you're in a hurry!

Benefit Besties became available from 1st August so add it to your holiday shopping list. I know I won't be without mine this summer!  It is so cheap too at £9.50!

17's Summer Capsule Collection

Thursday, 7 June 2012

It's summer, which means I've been paring down my beauty routine and adding new products to my stash.
I was pleased to hear 17 has introduced a brand new capsule collection to its already overflowing range, including a pretty line of mattifying and bronzing products.

For a base that won't budge, I've been using 17's Miracle Matte Skin Primer, £3.99. Ensuring your foundation stays in place longer and your skin remains shine-free, this handy little product is a lifesaver during balmy summer days.

I've been pairing the primer and my usual foundation with 17's Miracle Matte Pressed Powder, £2.99 dabbing it around the T Zone to mop up excess oil. I find it mattifies my skin perfectly, preventing the need for touch-ups.

The beautiful new Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in Gold Bronze, £4.99 completes my summer-ready look, giving a healthy-glow to my usual pasty white cheeks. And don't forget to take a look at the brand's Instant Glow Bronzer in Shimmer or Matte for an all over instant sun-kissed look - just beautiful!

Do you change your make-up routine during summer?

Which products do you like to use?

xoxo,
Angelique :-)
