Good morning lash-lovers!
With Christmas over and the New Year celebrations complete, it almost feels like a very empty January is about to stretch ahead of us all. But that is why we need a bit of excitement and fun in our lives.
So my idea? False Lashes to make your eyes pop! With lashings of great make-up and falsies on, there is no doubt that you'll feel great about yourself and enjoy January so much more.
I was recently sent a great pair of lashes by the friendly staff at FalseEyelashes.co.uk to try out, and I certainly wasn't dissapointed. I chose the Katy Perry Lashes created by Eylure in Oh, Honey!
These lashes are truly beautiful and yes, quite dramatic! But that was the idea. I wanted a pair of lashes to really pop and make me feel like a doll. They retail on the site for £5.99 including first class postage and can be found here.
FalseEyelashes.co.uk has an amazing selection of high quality brands that they stock like Eylure, Ardell, DUO, Eye Candy and Red Cherry. The lashes that they stock include everything from your standard demi lash, to individuals and the most crazily fun 50's lashes. It is certainly worth having a look on the site and they are very reasonably priced.
My favourite pack of lashes on the site has to be the Eylure Katy Perry Lashes Mini Kit which includes the lashes called Sweetie Pie, Oh, Honey!, Cool Kitty and Oh, my! It retails on the site for £21.99, which again includes First Class Delivery.
They've also got a great blog that has some amazing tips and tricks to make popping those false lashes on a breeze. Check it out here. They have a very friendly and efficient customer service team to help assist with your order and it is well worth having a look at their site.
I can't wait to get myself some Ardell lashes from the site.
Have a peaceful monday,

I hereby decree that the power of long, notice-me lashes is something everyone should be granted. I say this because I have thin, pale, pathetic excuses for eyelashes and I really, really wish I could afford extensions. What fun it would be to have long, thick, bat-able, come-hither lashes. I'd flutter my eyes all day and have guys fawning all over me, then I'd meet Mr. Right and we'd jet off to Fiji on his private plane and ...
Sorry, my imagination got the best of me for a minute. Now, where was I? Oh, the fact that I'm too broke for extensions and that it's a big bummer. But, the good news for me -- and everyone else who can't shell out big wads o' cash for perma-fake lashes -- is that there are some great falsies and daring mascaras that are actually affordable.
So, what do you say we try some on for size? For inspiration, here are my favorite extreme runway and red carpet looks, along with a few celebrity makeup artists' tips on how to make them more wearable. Bat-ter up!
Tip: If you need to trim them to fit, do so beforehand with sharp scissors. Never put scissors near your eyes.

Colored mascara
A pop of bright color on your lashes is a fast, easy way to spice up your look. So take a page from celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath's playbook and carefully dust bright blue loose pigment over freshly applied, still-sticky black mascara. (I recommend using a small fan brush to do this.) For a much more subtle dose of color, try using an actual coloured mascara. Keep the rest of your makeup natural, and skip colored eyeshadow.
Tip: It may sound counterintuitive but blue, not black, is the most universally flattering mascara shade, plus it makes the whites of your eyes look even whiter.

Baby-doll lashes
Big, doll-like lashes can be jarring close up, but from afar, they look amazing. So much so that celebs like Adele and Katy Perry wear 'em all the time. To get the look, apply a lengthening mascara, such as Adele's favorite, Eyeko London Skinny Brush Mascara, £15.
Tip: If you still need a boost, add faux strip lashes like Katy Perry Lashes by Eylure in Oh My!, £6.95.

Iced lashes
Next time you feel like dazzling your date, put tiny Swarovski crystals on your lashes. To get the look, pair Shu Uemura Mini Crystal False Lashes, £15.50 with black wing-tipped eyeliner.
Tip: Shu Uemura Beauty creator and celebrity makeup artist Taylor Chang-Babian suggests going with black crystals or a half lash strip for a slightly less dramatic look.
Wild Eyes
Two-toned lashes made of nylon or feathers take serious cajones to pull off, but I couldn't resist trying them. They're so fun to look at! Perhaps they're best left for Halloween, but should you find the right occasion beforehand, try Altereglow's Stargazer False Lashes, £4.50 or the EyelashesDirect's wide array of lashes, between £3 - £8
Tip: If you need to trim them to fit, do so beforehand with sharp scissors. Never put scissors near your eyes.
Spider lashes
They sound scary but they're crawling all over the runways. To get the flattering, cake-free version that Kim Kardashian does so well, start with a good lash curler to help crimp your lashes so they stand up taller. (This also makes your eyes look bigger.) Apply several coats of lengthening mascara (try L'Oreal Telescopic False Lash Mascara, £10.99) on your top and bottom lashes, wiggling the brush left and right.
Tip: Use a lash comb afterward or wipe off your mascara wand with a tissue beforehand to get rid of unsightly clumps.

I hope all you beauties have a wonderful weekend filled with lots of fun! I'm intending to do the same.

Do you ever find that no matter how much eye makeup you wear, it looks like you're going for the no-makeup makeup look in every photo? Do you want to step it up this season and go for a more dramatic look? Well, wearing false eyelashes will certainly make you stand out at any shindig and help you look like you actually have makeup on in photographs.
Having semi-traumatic, false-eyelash-application flash backs? Stay with me … OK, so you've had some bad experiences applying false eyelashes or bought a pair, but never had the patience or balls to try them out (join the club). Or perhaps you've had them done professionally by a makeup artist, but assumed that you could never recreate that fabulous false eyelash magic on your own.
Au contraire … all you need is this quick makeup tutorial and you'll quickly be rocking long, sexy lashes a la Kim Kardashian in no time. Heck, you might even be mistaken for one of the Dash sisters. Makeup mavens practically gave me a dissertation on how to apply false eyelashes and I boiled it down to CliffsNotes for you, which include steps, tips and product suggestions from the aforementioned pros.

Step 1: Gather your supplies
Luckily, you don't need much (and often you can get it all in one package), but consider this your false lash shopping list:
1. False eyelashes
(Obvious, I know, but I had to say it.)
2. Glue
Typically your lashes will come with glue, however, I recommend MAC Duo Adhesive, £10, because it dries clear and quickly.
3. Tweezers or an applicator tool
They make things easier if you're applying them to someone else or using individual lashes. Eylure Easi-Lash Precision Eyelash Applicator Tweezers, £5.95 is shaped like your eye and not sharp so there's less risk of stabbing yourself in the eye (sounds kinda essential to me).
4. Cotton buds or tissue to wipe up any watery eyes

Step 2: Prep
My advice: "Coffee before applying your lashes is not a good idea. No shaky fingers, please."
Aside from staying away from caffeine, you'll also want to take everything out of the packaging and lay it out where you can easily grab it while perched in front of the mirror. And make sure to gently remove the lashes from the package, you don't want to destroy the arch they have or bend the lashes.
Also, I suggest doing all your other eye makeup first and saving lashes for last. So apply eye shadow, curl your (real) lashes and apply mascara before reaching for the false lashes.

Step 3: Take a deep breath and ... apply
OK, this is the critical part, you know, actually putting the lashes on. But it's really not so bad, just follow these steps:
Strip lashes:
1. Before using the glue, apply the lashes to your lids to see how they fit. The strips should be the same length as your natural lash line. If they're not, trim a bit off the ends to get the right length.
2. Hold out your false lash strip and apply a thin line of glue at the base.
3. Wait a few seconds for the glue to get tacky; it will keep your lashes from sliding around on your lids.
4. Use your fingers or tweezers/applicator to press the lashes into the base of your lash line. Start at your outer corners and work your way in. Gently press down to keep the glue from bubbling up.
5. Give the glue about two minutes to dry, then curl your lashes (real and fake together) with your eyelash curler. This will get the strip even closer to the lash line and help mesh your real lashes with the fake ones for a more natural look. Plus, it reduces the tension on your eyelids and makes them feel more comfy.

6. If you have light lashes or if you want to make your real lashes mesh with the fakes better, then apply a very natural-looking mascara. Try Clinique Lash Power Mascara, £16.
Individual lashes
While applying individual lashes are more time consuming, because you apply each small clump one at a time, they can actually be easier to put on. With a full strip you have to get it pressed on perfectly without any "bubbling" -- not the case with individuals.
Here I share how to apply them:
1. Hold each individual lash with tweezers and dip the teeny tip into the glue.
2. Wait a couple seconds for the glue to get tacky, then press the clump on to your lash line, wiggling them in between your natural lashes. Repeat with as many clumps as you like.
Tip: Make sure you apply mascara before putting individual lashes in, it will give the glue more to grip onto.

A few pro tips
Now that you've got the basics, here are a few expert tips:
1. Look down in the mirror while you apply, it will keep the glue from getting on your eyelids.
2. Use a cotton bud or tissue to blot your eyes if they start watering. If you know your eyes will water a lot, try cutting the lashes into sections (if working with strip lashes) and apply them individually. There will be less tension on your eyelids, which will help with irritation and tears. Plus, if your tears cause the glue to slide, it's only one small section you need to fix instead of the whole strip.
3. Use glue that starts out white and dries clear instead of glue that dries dark. That way if you get any on your lid it won't show up and ruin your eyeshadow.

Avoid these false lash pitfalls
Of course, even if you follow our little step-by-step you still might run into some problems. Here are some tips for evading them:
1. Pay attention to symmetry. You want your lashes on each eye to start and end at the same point on your lash line. Remember that you can always trim lashes if they're too big for your eyes.
2. Don't let your lashes droop, or you'll have the Paris Hilton, lazy-eye action going on. Curling them will help.
3. If you plan on reusing your strip of lashes (individual ones usually can't be reused), then don't apply mascara to them. Just use a more dramatic pair so you don't need additional mascara on the false lashes. If your lashes are light, just apply mascara to your natural lashes first.
4. Do not sleep in your false lashes, it's bad for your eyes and real lashes. Instead, at the end of the night, use a silicone eye makeup remover and a cotton bud to gently remove them. Start at the outer corners and roll them toward the inner corners.
5. Don't wash your false lashes -- it will ruin them.

Choose the right lashes for you
So I may have saved the hardest part for last (baby steps and all that). Choosing the right lashes from the thousands out there can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Just follow these guidelines:
1. Let your eye makeup be your guide. If you're going for a smoky eye, then you need a dark, dramatic set of lashes, otherwise they won't show up. Basically, the darker the eye makeup, the darker your lashes should be.
2. If you want to open up your eyes or have wide-set eyes, look for lashes that are longer in the center.
3. If you have close-set eyes, look for lashes that are longer at the outer corners to make the distance look wider.
4. If you want a more natural look with just some lift, try a half-strip of lashes and apply them on the outer half of your eyes.
5. Look for lashes that vary in length for a more natural look. Lashes that are all one length and stick straight up will give you a mod '60s look -- which is fine if that's what you're going for, otherwise it can look dated and fake.

And that is the full guide on your false lash look. So the best option really is to just enjoy the lashes and try different things. Have a fantastic wednesday!

Okay, so everyone is getting ready for festivals right now and why should they be?? It is the season to enjoy the great British weather and also have fun and listen to great artists! My favourite festival has to be Global Gathering but sadly I shall not be going this year!
To mark this auspicious occasion I have gone on a journey of shopping to various cheaper shops to bring you cheap little basics to get for the festival season!
Firstly I popped into Home Bargains. Now not everyone will have one of these handy, but luckily mine is just around the corner and sell some really great beauty products for a small price.
My hot pick is these Girls Aloud Festival Lashes! I picked two pairs up including Kimberly and Sarah for 99p each! Now these lashes retail between £4 and £5.99 else where but is a truly great bargain for only 99p at both Savers and Home Bargains! They have the other lashes in stock too, I just didn't notice the Nicola Roberts ones however stocks could be dependant on availability.
My second big find was Batiste Dry Shampoo, and I bought two lots. Blush and Tropical both have really nice subtle smells that leave your hair feeling and smelling great! I picked these up for a very nice £1.29 at Home Bargains but have since found that Savers are selling these for £1 each! They have a variety of these in store! Great for festivals to leave your hair clean even when you have no shampoo on hand!
I also managed to pick up this Charles Worthington Take Aways Stay Smooth spray! It was only 99p from Home Bargains and is great at festivals for wind swept hair! Keep those locks smooth and shiny :)
There are loads of other great little products dotted around the store, you just need to check it out! Home Bargains also sell baby wipes for 99p, which would be great for festivals! And they are so cheap with their face wipes and have great brands available to buy.
Superdrug are also currently doing some great offers like 2 Barry M Nail polishes for £6 as well as 50 bonus points on your Superdrug Beauty Card. The beauty card offers customers the chance to shop at Superdrug whilst collecting a lovely 10 points per £1 spent in store. The card also doubles up as a small mirror in your handbag. There are also loads of offers on in-store for extra points like spending £15 on L'Oreal and earning a hefty 150 extra points. Superdrug are also currently running some great offers on travel mini so check those out for the festivals.
Every festival-ready girl needs a good pair of Wellies considering what the British weather is always like! These Hunter wellies are created in great colours and very sturdy. They retail at approximately £64.99 and are available all across the internet and good camping stores!
Go forth and headbang I say! :)
