Okay, I bet you are well shocked and say how can you read such a dirty porno book?! But the truth is, I like it for light reading. I've only recently discovered the trilogy, and can't believe that I haven't bothered with it earlier.
It certainly has scenes of a sexual nature, scenes of language and scenes of BDSM (Bondage and what not) in there. HOWEVER, the underlying story remains to be a romantic novel, which shows that a man can certainly be a gentleman even in this day and age.
It is romantic rather than sexist to open a car door for a lady or to let a lady through a door before you go yourself. It is nice to hold a lady's hand to help her get out of the car in a nice lady-like fashion. No wonder bloody Lindsay Lohan has shown her growler more than is necessary, she didn't have a man to help her out the car!
At work this system always rears it's ugly head. We'll all go for a tea break, men and woman alike, and I find very few men will still allow ladies to go forwards first. They often say that this will be 'sexist' or 'wrong in modern day society'. Even my own husband doesn't open the car door for me, but will certainly allow me through a door first.
There is lots of misconceptions amongst men, thinking that women would find it to be 'sexist' or 'rude' doing these old-fashioned things. But I have to admit that I like these old-fashioned notions. It makes me hanker back to the 40s and 50s when men still had those notions engrained to allow women to go first etc.
I'm by no means saying that we should be stuck in the kitchen, bare-feet and pregnant. I'm also not implying that we should throw away all the woman's rights that our anchestors fought so hard for back in the 20s. BUT certainly those little moments are so precious and should remain tradition.
It is the same with manners - manners seem to be a thing of the past. Now is the time to regain our manners to show future generations what we need to be like. We should love one another and make the utmost effort to do the best for each other. Help should always be at hand. Rather than looking on when someone struggles, help them! Give them a hand with that heavy object or shopping.

Let me know how you feel on this topic.
Hope you had a great weekend ;-)
Until tomorrow....
