The best travel beauty products

Good morning everyone!

With my impending travels I've been thinking of which products I'll be needing or wanting to try during this time.  Many beauty guru's would recommend that you don't try any new products when you travel on planes OR on holiday.  Personally I have to agree on certain terms but also believe that there is no better time than during your holidays to try something new.

I love buying one or two luxury products (even if they are travel sizes) to try out.  It is great to stick to safer options like new shampoos, conditioner or certain makeup items like lipsticks/mascara's.

Here are a few of the items I've recently discovered that I'm thinking of getting for myself:

Make sure that you are prepped for your time in the cabin by properly moisturising your face before heading to the airport.
I'm all about facial oils at the moment and this bottle from African Botanics is by far my favourite. An intense moisturiser without the greasy residue you might expect from an oil, this product will give you the perfect base to travel with.

The circulation of dry air on planes can be pretty bad for your skin, and it doesn't feel very comfortable either, so make sure that you're prepared by packing these miniatures in your hand luggage.
Elizabeth Arden's legendary Eight Hour Cream is a beauty editor favourite - with good reason - and this handy travel-sized hand cream, skin protectant and daily moisturiser will top you up where necessary.

Sometimes all we want mid-flight is to splash our face with water - not always so appealing once you've negotiated the teeny aeroplane toilet. Fear not, Crème de la Mer has the answer, thanks to this little 100ml, travel-friendly bottle of mist.
Spritz this vitamin-packed formula onto your skin to refresh, energise, brighten and hydrate when you're feeling most in need of it. The mist will also help moisturise your eyes so you can avoid the dreaded tired eyes syndrome.

Keeping the blood flowing around your body is really important during air travel to prevent swelling, or even clots from forming in your legs and feet. As well as remembering to drink lots of water and do foot exercises throughout long-haul flights, other methods can help increase circulation, too.
If your feet tend to swell up during a flight, try these foot patches. They contain menthol, to aid healthy circulation.

Long-haul flights call for a slightly more intense beauty regime. While you may notice skin on your face and hands becoming dry, your feet are likely to be neglected.
This foot balm by Gamila Secret is one of the best I've tried. The peppermint balm will not only relax and nourish your feet, but spending five minutes massaging your toes will help improve blood circulation, too.

During long-haul flights, there comes a time when all you want to do is give your face a good, proper scrub. Rather than dragging your cleanser and cotton pads on board, consider these ingenious face wipes from Skyn Iceland.

These self-foaming wonder wipes remove dirt, oil and make-up instantly and afterwards, unlike normal face wipes, you'll feel like you've had a proper wash. The best bit? There's no need to add water or rinse after using, so you can do it from the comfort (ahem) of your own seat.

If you'd prefer a much deeper cleanse mid-flight, this clever pot of buffing grains from Bobbi Brown could be the answer to your prayers. It can be mixed with a normal Bobbi Brown cleanser or just water to create a customized, gentle facial exfoliator. The best bit? There's no liquid so you needn't worry about fitting it into your small, see-through bag.

After cleansing, give your skin a deeper form of moisturising by using an intense mask, like Sisley's luxury Hydra-Flash intensive moisturiser. I love Sisley products, and this one is the perfect pick-me-up for dehydrated skin.

Alternatively, try Dr Hauschka's Moisturising Mask. Apply the product to your face and neck and leave for 10-20 minutes, letting your skin absorb as much of the mask as necessary. Wipe away any excess with a cloth and voilà - your skin will be back to it's pre-flight best again.

If you've had a long flight and your eyes are starting to look puffy and tired, these cool firming eye gels from Skyn Iceland will help to return you to your former glory in a matter of minutes. The patches work to restore tone and firmness to the under-eye area, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and - most importantly - de-puff your eyes and banish dark circles. Place under your eyes just 10 minutes before landing.

When you're preparing to land at your holiday destination of choice, rain or shine, make sure to protect your skin against the outside elements with an SPF cream. My choice is Urban Decay's Naked Skin BB cream, which glides onto skin and blends with your natural skin tone, moisturising without leaving your face feeling greasy. Not only will it protect your skin against harmful UV rays thanks to an SPF of 20, but it also covers the skin perfectly to leave you looking refreshed but oh-so-natural as you step off that plane.

Or, if you want maximum protection from the sun's harmful rays, Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream contains an SPF of 50. Perfect.
